Is spindle moulder tooling essential?

Depending on the spindle moulder you have purchased, you may need to purchase your own tooling kits to enable you to use all of the features possible when woodworking.

Similarly, if you have owned your spindle moulder for a long time, you may need to shop for replacement spindle moulder tools. Although they are very durable, most will not last a lifetime, especially if used very regularly as part of a busy workshop.

Whitehill Tooling has manufactured industrial blocks and cutters for the past 80 years, offering real expertise at approachable, affordable prices.

What is a rebate block for?

A high-quality rebate block is an example of a spindle moulder tool designed for rebating and edging a range of materials, from solid timber to MDF.

Rebating involves cutting a recess or groove into the edge of wood or timber, which gives an “L” shape while edging alters the shape or layout of the timber, which can be beneficial for a range of projects.

If you are shopping for a rebate block, please double-check the diameter and bore size before ordering, as returning and reordering can result in delays.

To find out which size rebate block is best for you, why not email us at info@kendaltools.co.uk with the make and model of your spindle moulder – we’ll do our best to help.

Is there a difference between alloy and steel spindle moulder tooling?

The biggest difference between spindle moulder tooling is generally the material it is crafted from – but this doesn’t make as much difference as you would think.

Alloy and steel blocks and cutters are equally effective and the quality of the cut isn’t affected.

It is worth noting, however, that heavier steel blocks need a more serious motor to get them spinning, which is much easier with a larger, more powerful machine. Therefore, if you don’t have this, consider investing in alloy blocks, which are lighter and easier to get going.

If you can’t decide, fill in our contact form and one of our experts will get back to you with a bespoke recommendation.

What is a wobble saw for?

Wobble saws are designed specifically to be used alongside a spindle moulder only, to a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm.

It is used to cut a groove or housing to pre-set widths and can be set with an Allen key when set to the calibrated reading.

It has eight tungsten carbide tips for long-lasting, clean, and precise groove widths.

To order today, simply add the wobble saw to your secure online basket and choose how you want to pay.
