A generator is a must-have addition to any workshop, whether you’re a professional tradesperson or a DIY enthusiast. Great for powering tools on remote jobs when you don’t have access to the mains, or emergencies where storms or floods cause power outages.
From compact and lightweight units to heavy-duty models powered by Honda engines, the range of generators on the market today is vast – and knowing which one to choose for your workshop can be tricky.
However, there are several key features to look out for, and our friendly team is always on hand to offer guidance.
Choosing a generator for woodworking
When choosing a generator, it’s important to consider:
the required output
the fuel type
Whilst diesel generators provide maximum energy and are great for situations where lots of fuel is required, petrol-powered generators tend to be the most popular and cheaper to operate.
Portable generators are also a brilliant option for domestic, commercial, and industrial use. Lightweight and easy to transport, these still pack plenty of power.
Honda petrol engine generators are renowned for offering maximum convenience and reliability for various domestic and leisure applications.

Celebrating 50 Years of association with Scheppach UK.
It was fifty years ago while working in the family tool and machinery shop in East London as a young lad I first met Neil McEwen the managing director Scheppach UK (NMA).
In those days he would visit personally, open the boot of his car and show us the latest saw bench/ table saws or concrete mixer deals he had to offer. When they were delivered I would assemble them, put them in the showroom ready sell to the local tradesmen, In those days you never sold a machine in a box for the customer to put together they were always assembled and ready to go.
I can say that Scheppach is in my blood, part of my dna there is not a day goes go by when I don’t sell a Scheppach machine or accessory, these days because of the internet I sell many more machines than ever before as Scheppach keep expanding their range of machinery with different models being introduced.
There has never been a better time to purchase a machine for your workshop with very competitive prices and new innovations coming out.
If you need to know more about any of the Scheppach range drop me a line through our contact page.
