W824P: The midi sized lathe continues to be the best seller. It is a size which can accomplish most of the projects turners are likely to try and is the largest lathe which can comfortably be moved off the bench when not in use. We have developed ours further this year to now include an indexing system on the headstock spindle as well as more robust electronics, specifically designed for UK voltage.

The bed of the lathe is one-piece precision ground cast iron giving 14″ between centres when working with our new heavy duty centres, which are supplied as standard. The bowl turning capacity of 12″ diameter over the bed, requires a very low speed which is achieved using a converter and a DC motor. A clear LCD display shows the current RPM.

The tool rest banjo is a cam-lock design for rapid adjustments with all metal components. The tool rest itself is our ever popular round bar made from hardened steel

The headstock is hollow centred to allow for easy tool removal, the tailstock is also hollow and has automatic centre removal.

Supplied with drive and tail centres 2MT, knockout bar, 6″ toolrest with 5/8″ shank, 3″ diameter faceplate, tool holder, carrying handles, cable tidy,1.9m power cable and 3 pin UK plug.

N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories used. Maximum distance is 450mm (18″).

Charnwood VIPER2 Scroll Chuck

Part of the new Viper range from Charnwood. A compact scroll chuck, with the jaws adjusted by a geared mechanism for simple one handed operation. Self centring, high precision design. Ideal for Mini and Midi sized lathes.

The standard dovetail jaws can grip the work piece both internally or externally depending on the style and shape of the piece to be turned.
The chuck fits directly onto the W824 lathe.

We also include a wood screw which clamps into the centre of the chuck for the initial mounting of bowl blanks.

Supplied with dovetail jaws, wood screw, T-bar for locking the jaws, T-handled hex key for swapping the jaws.

We have an extensive range of optional jaws and accessories available for the Viper range of chucks.

 

Charnwood ULEG floor stand specification

A heavy duty floor stand designed for Mini and Midi bench lathes.

The width of the stand is fully adjustable allowing it to be compatible with many different makes and models of lathe. The two mounting platforms have a series of slotted holes for securely bolting the lathe to the stand.

The height of the stand is also adjustable so a comfortable working height can be set.

Supplied with 4 adjustable rubber feet.
