Cyclones offer a more consistent and superior performance than traditional extractors. First of all the dust, chips and shavings do not come into contact with the fan itself, so the rotation speed of the fan is constant and does not drop away due to the disturbance of the material being collected. Secondly, most of the dust, chips and shavings fall straight down into the collection drum and do not go into the filter chamber. The filter therefore stays cleaner for longer, maintaining the maximum airflow.
The steel fan is powered by a quiet 4hp induction motor which draws air into the cyclone barrel and then down into the collection drum where it deposits most of the material collected. The air then flows back up, through the fan housing and then through the cartridge filter. The filter will take out 99% of particles sized at 1 micron or above. A small amount of dust will be collected in the filter collection bag. A quick action strap release the bag for emptying.
To prevent clogging of the filter, and keep the air flowing at its maximum rate, there are 3 paddles inside the filter. They are rotated by an electric motor to gently shake the pleats in the filter, removing dust clinging to the inside. The cleaning system automatically runs after 1 hour of use and when the cyclone is powered down. Perfect for installations where multiple operators are using the cyclone as nobody has to take responsibility for the cleaning.
A sight window in the side of the collection drum allows the operator to see when the drum needs emptying. The C400RA is also fitted with a detection system. A laser beam inside the collection drum measures the fill level and notifies the operator, by way of a flashing light and an audible alarm, when the drum needs emptying. The audible alarm continues after the cyclone is powered down in case the operator has not noticed the light and was wearing ear defenders.
Emptying the drum is a very simple operation. 2 toggle handles raise the drum lid. The drum is on castors, and can be rolled forward to access the plastic collection bag. Replace the bag, roll the drum back into place and close the lid. The C400RA has a twin hose negative pressure system which keeps the empty collection bag in place and prevents it being sucked up. No need for a messy drum insert inside the bag as required on many other cyclones.
The C400RA cyclone has a 200mm diameter inlet and is supplied with a splitter to give the option of using 3 x 100mm diameter inlets instead. 3 hoses can be connected at the same time for simultaneous collection or use the 2 blanking caps supplied to close off inlets not being used.
The whole machine sits on lockable castors and can easily be moved around the workshop when required.
Another great feature is the addition of a remote handset to start & stop the cyclone. It comes with a wall mount so you can fix it in a convenient position or just keep it in your pocket.
A countdown timer can be set from either the control panel or the remote handset. It can be used to run the cyclone for a fixed period of time after which it will turn off.
Supplied with remote start handset, 1 collection bag for main drum, 1 collection bag for filter dust, 2.0m power cable, 16 amp industrial plug.
Unusually this cyclone is shipped fully assembled, so it only takes 30 minutes to unpack it and get it ready to use.
A 16 amp, 240v electric supply is required to run this machine. We also recommend using a 16amp Type C breaker.
Hose is not supplied as standard, our 100mm diameter transparent hose is recommended, sold by the metre.
